Robert Sean Humphrey
1962-1992

Robert Sean Humphrey was born in Seattle in August of 1962. After graduating from Everett High School, he was further educated in Seattle and later at UCLA in Los Angeles.
Sean was a talented athlete throughout his life. He played tennis and soccer in addition to running and teaching ski lessons at Snoqualmie Pass while in high school and college. Sean worked in both hotel and restaurant management with Stouffer Madison Hotel, at the helm of their Prego Fine Dining Restaurant. Sean would go on to manage the Space Needle Restaurant in Seattle, later to be recruited by Ritz Carleton to manage their Palm Desert location in California.
In May of 1992, Sean and his partner returned to Bellingham. After a short illness, Sean finally succumbed to his HIV/AIDS condition in September 1992. Sean’s humanitarian concerns for others affected by the virus “who don’t have what we have…family, medical insurance, friends and adequate finances” spurred his parents, friends, family and innumerable volunteers to build Sean Humphrey House which was dedicated to his memory in January of 1995.
