The House consists of six studio apartments, each with private entrance, bathroom, and furnishings; adjoined to a community living space. There are beautifully landscaped grounds adorned with a gazebo, a garden space, flowers and trees of different kinds, and two loving dogs Sitka and Daisy. The House is conveniently located near the city center, bus lines, several city parks, and the city library. Bellingham Bay can be seen simply by walking out the front door and to the end of the driveway.
The family-home setting allows residents at Sean Humphrey House to maintain independent fulfilling lives while having access to support services in order to remain healthy and combat HIV/AIDS. We aim to minimize the social distance between staff and residents, foster good physical health as well as feelings of confidence, high self-esteem and a sense of security in our residents. It is here residents can begin to live as they choose and not as their disease dictates.
Our residents are provided with daily medical management, medication oversight by trained professionals, hygiene and nutritional care, and emotional support.
Working with community mental health experts, residents develop the tools for coping with difficult situations and maintaining a positive outlook.
We are a community and program committed to sharing values of diversity and inclusion in order to provide comfortable living situations for all residents.
